About Us

St. John Youth Choir

Children entering kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to join our youth choirs this fall, where we learn to become skilled musicians, serve God, lead in worship, and sing our faith together.

No experience is required; in fact, most children learn to sing very naturally, as we practice together in choir. With music less available at school, our choir program provides a great opportunity for children to experience the proven benefits of music education. In fact, our choir children often report that their music teachers at school take notice of their excellent musicianship!

You may use the registration form above or in the church office. If you have any questions about the Youth Choir, contact Ellen Goodwin at or the church office. Thank You!

Our St. John Youth Choirs are a vital part of our worship tradition. Children’s choirs have been singing in our services for as long as we can remember! We believe that children should have an active and important role in worship leadership, and choir provides an opportunity for service that suits the interests and abilities of children.

Our Philosophy:

Children are drawn to melody and rhythm, and learn to sing as naturally as they learn to speak. Our choir directors seek to give children the skills, knowledge, and training that will more fully develop their natural gifts.

  Our Objectives:

The children in St. John youth choirs will

-learn Bible stories and truths through song, during rehearsal and in worship

-learn how to lead and actively participate in worship.

-learn the importance of tending to their faith and of being part of a faith community.

-learn the vocal, musical, and choral skills needed to be lifelong singers and musicians.

-learn life skills and team skills, such as the importance of faithful attendance and punctuality.

-deepen their faith through relationships with the adult leaders and other choir members.
